Trekking to Kumara Parvata

Trekking to Kumara Parvata peak is considered the toughest in Karnataka. The mountain is sandwiched between the borders of Dakshina Kannada and Kodagu districts. A few facts

  • Famous as toughest trek in Karnataka.
  • Route 1: Kukke Subramanya - Girigadde - Mantap - KP Peak.
  • Route 2: Somwarpat - Bidalli - KP Peak. This is from Coor side
  • People starts from one side and descends at the others. You can also descend the same way down.
  • Kukke Subramanya is 230 KM from Bangalore.
  • The first few hour of walk from Sumbrananya is through thick forest. Then you break into an open grass filled hills.
  • At 1712m, KP peak is the third highest in Karnataka.
  • KP peak is also known as Pushpagiri. Giri in Kanada means peak.
  • At Girigadde, there’s the famous Bhatt’ house where trekkers stop for food.
I am leaving on a BMC’s classic trek to Kumara Parvata tonight. I am really excited.
